Whistles, Rattles, and Rainsticks
This assignment began in November of 2016. For this assignment, students where shown three different ways that mud can be used to create sound. The students had the choice to create a ceramic whistle, rattle, or rainstick. Once they created their noise maker, they used their sculptural skills to create an object. Instead of glazing their projects, students learned about color theory and they painted their whistles, rattles, and rainsticks using a variety of painting techniques.
